Jez Green from LA... PDF Print E-mail

Hi all and greetings from Los Angeles where Wes and I are currently training out of UCLA. We have been Stateside for three weeks now and this week is my favourite, three days of only physical conditioning and then tennis on the last two days. So far the trip has gone well, Wes made the singles semifinal of the Newport tour event and then the week after in LA made the semifinal of the doubles.

But this week is all about fitness!!!

At this point however I do have a great LA story, typical of how this place works…Wes had a lower back problem so he searched out a chiropractor and promptly found a great guy called Ray Hall who started work on him that day. But not only that, within 30 minutes of the appointment, we had been invited to dinner to meet his family and kids and to come and stay in their brand new house in Malibu! In fact, he asked me to speak to his wife on his office phone as she was English too. Talk about being part of the family in the blink of an eye. We actually went last night and spent a fantastic night sitting with Ray, his wife, Andrea and kids Andrew and Flora over looking the ocean and canyon sipping on a sensational bottle of wine…the adults that is. Thanks for a great night guys.

Anyway, the training is going well. Wes has fallen in love with running 200 metres and squatting is his new religion and after an hour run from Santa Monica to Venice Beach he’s learning that muscle stiffness is the new hip la experience, but he’s keeping it quiet or soon everyone will want to feel it!

Actually he’s doing really well. He is starting to feel the different movement patterns and to perform them smoothly. With his talent, athletic ability and huge game this bodes very well for the future.

As usual the States has been incredibly helpful. From giving us free hotel rooms this week to giving us free run of all UCLA’s facilities, we have been able to do a lot of very useful work.

I’ve also learned that Wes feeds more often than a hummingbird and enjoys nothing more than taking his time when making decisions.

Next stop: Washington tour event and a rendezvous with Mr. Sammel who is going to be joining us in a few days.

Must go now, off to yoga with Yogini Jenn and have to quickly stop off and pick up my skinny decaf low cal soy chai tea latte mochacino!

How very LA!!!
