  HOP THROUGH - BEFORE

Ian’s split step at the start of this move is totally inadequate. He lands with a base that is too narrow, which in turn means that he can not sink into his split or store any elastic energy. As a result of this, any subsequent explosive move is impossible. As he gets into his hitting position, there is already a lack of legwork, which means correct rotation will be difficult. This can be seen as he swings through his stroke and brings the right foot through far too early. He tries to end with good balance, but the damage has already been done. It is also worth noting that Ian’s left knee caves inwards after he has finished his shot, indicating a strength problem.
